Norges Vel’s mission is to strengthen national and international food security by promoting sustainable and resilient food systems.

This includes supporting business development and entrepreneurship that create local value and viable livelihoods. By integrating principles of biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation and strong collaborative partnerships, we work to build thriving, inclusive and resilient local communities.

From ideas to impact

As a development organisation, we play an active role in turning ideas and knowledge about sustainable food production and business development into practical action and measurable results. We do this through development programmes, advisory services, training, dissemination, innovation support, field trials and the administration of grants and awards.

What makes our approach unique is that we work both in Norway and internationally, while also operating our own agricultural business. This gives us the ability to share learning and synergies across borders and disciplines, and to draw on hands-on experience and R&D-based knowledge from our own farming operations.

Partnerships and Collaboration

Strong partnerships are essential to our work. We collaborate with public and private partners, our members, research institutions and a wide range of stakeholders, and we take part in networks, clusters and cooperative initiatives.

In our international programmes, local partners are especially important in achieving lasting and sustainable results.
