Agriculture and the environment

Poor small farmers form a clear majority in most developing countries. Through our projects in Africa, the Royal Norwegian Society for Development contributes to a better and more effective organisation of the farmers and their small-scale production. This is important in order to meet the world’s future food needs.

Over the next 30 years, the world’s population will increase by two thousand million individuals. Half of this growth will occur in Africa, which will double its population. It is therefore critical both for regional and for global food production that Africa is able to exploit the large unused potential in the continent’s food production.
